Looks like Dell launched a new corporate blog. Damon Darlin today takes a good look at Dell’s smoldering public image. I visited Dell’s blog thinking they’d have a post up in response to Darlin’s piece - but haven’t seen anything yet. Maybe they’re waiting for folks to drop a hint in their suggestion box?

Does *everyone* have it in for Dell? It amazes me the expectations we set for corporate blogs.
a) We’re assuming Dell needs to respond to everything that is said about the new venture.
b) Even if Dell is signed up with all of the de rigueur vanity searches, it takes awhile for Google and T-rati to track it all down and bring it to their attention.
c) We’re assuming they have staff whose primary task is to sit idly by, waiting for search results and comments so they can respond in Internet time.
Dell has done a pretty good job thus far responding to critics which is saying a lot as the blogosphere seems to want them to fail.
The Jeff Jarvis-led lynch mob would seem to be quieted by Dell launching a blog. It seems it is instead inciting them once again when Dell seems to be trying to change its ways.
FWIW, yours is one of several Dell posts I’ve seen today so if this comment seems a little cranky, it’s not aimed at Voce.
