Voce, Yes...The Voce

BlogHer 2006 in San Jose

“If particular care and attention is not paid to the ladies, we are determined to foment a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no voice or representation.” - Abigail Adams

I am a proud member of BlogHer (Mommy Bloggers and ClubMom too!), so I was excited to attend the second annual BlogHer Conference in San Jose this weekend to discuss best practices in blogging. More than 700 bloggers attended the show to discuss trends in business and personal blogging. In addition to riveting conversation (with food and wine while poolside on a sunny California Saturday afternoon), here’s what I found interesting:

Attendees I expected to see: Mommy Bloggers, business bloggers, hobbyists, and enthusiasts

Attendees who surprised me: adorable babies (the conference provided childcare) and *men* (including Stowe Boyd, Jeremy Pepper, Michael Wiley, Josh Hallett, and Marc Cantor).

Sponsors I expected to see: Voce clients Yahoo! and Blurb, also General Motors, Six Apart, and Pluck

Sponsors who caught me off-guard: Elexa by Trojan, Weight Watchers, Folie a Deux winery

Speakers I was excited to hear: Mena Trott, Jenn Slegg, Charlene Li, danah boyd

Speakers who caught me off-guard: Huffington Post founder and author Arianna Huffington; Washingtonpost.com/Newsweek Interactive CEO and Publisher Caroline Little; Hurricane Katrina Direct Relief founder and professional blogger Grace Davis

Items in the gift bag: pens, highlighters, T-shirts (and a very cool tote bag)

Gift bag items you don’t see at N+I: An Elexa condom (plus a handy carrying case!), three-month trial for Weight Watchers Online, baby bib, an entire box of Artificial Sweetener, wine opener from Folie a Deux

See you in NYC in March 2007!

    Greetings, Stacy!

I think it’s going to take a week, maybe two, to recover from BlogHer, don’t you think?

So, I hope I caught you “off guard” in a good way. If not, then you’re in good company with my teenager.

    All the best to you!
